There are now 3 types of Ukrainian visas:
Transit visa, Short-term visa and Long-term visa or Type D visa.
Transit visa is a visa that gives the right to visit Ukraine for transit purposes. It allows transit through the territory of Ukraine within the period of 5 days. Travellers can apply for one entry, two entries, as well as multiple entries within the period of one year.
Short term visa (Type C visa) gives you a possibility to come to Ukraine for a period of 90 days within a period of 180 days. This type of visas is needed for visiting Ukraine in case you are a citizen of a country, whose citizens requre visas to come to Ukraine. Alternatively, you will need such type of visa in case you have used your right to enter Ukraine vithout a vise and stayed for 90 days within the 180days period.
Long term visa or Type D visa to Ukraine may be only single entry, for specific purposes, like Employment basing on the work permit in Ukraine, Student, Religious etc. This is a petition-based visa, which could be issued for applicants entering Ukraine with the purpose of obtaining documents permitting stay in Ukraine for the period of longer than 90 days. Within 45 days from the moment of entry to Ukraine a holder of long-term one-entry visa should legalize his status in Ukraine (apply to relevant authorities in Ukraine for a permanent/temporary residence permit or special stamp to the passport).
